Whitney Speaks Out In An Exclusive Interview

Whitney, a cycle 8 contestant, is speaking out after being eliminated in this week’s episode of ANTM.

After being paired off with Shannon Stewart from Cycle 1 and having her best photo shoot yet, Whitney was shocked to find herself in the bottom two for a third week in a row, this time, to be sent home. Whitney took some time to talk to us at BuddyTV about her experience on the show, what we didn’t get to see on TV, and her plans to pursue modeling and acting.

In the interview, Whitney explains how much she enjoyed the show before becoming a participant and also how much she enjoyed being on the show. She also mentions that she will continue to pursue a career in modeling.

We didn’t get the impression that she planned to quit modeling altogether after receiving the bad news, we figured that she was just annoyed with the industry in general.

ANTM Goes Cross Country

If you’ve been aspiring to become a model, this is your opportunity. America’s Next Top Model is taking their casting call for cycle 9 cross country after finishing up their Miami audition phase. They will be in Dallas, TX on April 14, 2007 and Los Angeles, CA on April 21, 2007.

In Boston and Knoxville this week, hundreds of women over 5’7″ lined up hoping to make it to Cycle 9 of America’s Next Top Model. In Boston, more than a thousand showed up to audition for the next season of the show, which will only choose 13 hopefuls in the end from both the open casting calls and the audition tapes mailed in.

The CW’s Boston marketing director, Ross Kramer, said he couldn’t predict how many would be chosen to go to the second round. The casting directors don’t have a set quota they’ll choose, so it “all depends on what Tyra Banks is looking for, and no one knows what Tyra’s looking for,” Kramer said.

You can snag an application from the official America’s Next Top Model website, but be prepared to answer some tough personal questions and send in a video of yourself on the catwalk. And don’t forget to read the eligibility requirements carefully.

America’s Next Top Model Weekly Recap

[Show date: April 11, 2007]

The 10 second summary:

  • The girls learn how to act…sort of.
  • Renee wins, turns over a new leaf, and surprises the **** out of everyone.
  • The ghost of top models past return to re-live their most embarrassing moments.
  • Dionne discovers her inner lesbian.
  • __________ gets sent packing.

We’re beginning to think the number one reason for watching America’s Next Top Model is to see what amazing faces Jay Manuel will come up with next, followed a close second by watching a skinny woman roll around on the floor like an idiot.

At Least Act Like You Care

Tia Mowry This week was all about acting, because, as you know, a model is more than just a pretty face; she must be able to feign interest in whatever she’s promoting at the moment. The guest acting coach (for lack of a better word) this week was Tia Mowry of Disney fame. Frankly, we’re not sure about their choice, but we’re guessing everyone else was busy this week.

The sequence flew by and the question left on our minds was, “Where was the actual acting instruction?” In previous cycles, the acting coach usually offered tips before sending the models off to act crazy, but not this time. Tia just told them to grab a hat and start acting. It’s a pity because we used those tips as free acting classes. Keep reading »
